Resetting our World post Covid-19 – How Service Square is Coping with the Covid-19 World

Covid-19 has disrupted the orderly world we are used to at Service Square. It has brought in its wake, disruption, chaos, hardship, confusion, uncertainty, instability, and trauma.

All our team members are safe. We have retained all our cleaning staff. And, they are itching to get back to work.

It is now time to focus on what we can all do to create an impact and a difference – to the health of our customers and that of our communities.

Balancing our fear and the need to go on with our lives

This is how we see the evolving situation particularly with regard to Deep Cleaning Services.

Most residences would have somehow coped with cleaning requirements in the absence of maids – with varying degrees of success. It is fair to assume that in many homes a thorough cleaning would be a dire need right now.

Covid-19 only accentuates the fact that living in healthy environments is critical to one’s physical and mental well-being. Living in spotlessly clean homes and offices will soon become a necessity rather than a luxury.

Customers and we face a common dilemma.

But the fact is, customers are afraid with very valid justifications. They would think a few times before letting cleaning technicians inside their homes. At the same time, they cannot afford to live in unhygienic conditions.

From the perspective of Service Square, safety of cleaning staff is of utmost importance. For us, they are the front-line warriors who maintain healthy living conditions at customers’ places. We are also afraid about their safety and well-being.

Customers and we are united in our response to Covid-19 by one common thread –fear.

Fear is the key to ensuring that our customers and our staff are safe.

It is counter intuitive, but fear is the key to overcoming the fear of Covid-19. This healthy fear is what is behind all the safety precautions we are taking.

We know that these following precautionary steps would assuage the fears of our customers to a great extent while protecting our most precious resources – the cleaning technicians.

Our Recipe for staying far away from Covid-19.

1.       Check the temperature of our team members every day, in the morning. They carry a thermometer with them always.

2.       We ensure social distancing (minimum 6 ft from anyone) at customers’ places.

3.       Our staff always carry hand washers to clean their hands as many times as possible.

4.       Confirm a service only after ensuring no one at customer’s place is down with the virus. For full deep cleaning services, physical inspection will be done 100%.

5.       Ensure that the staff move to customers’ places only in company vehicles.

6.       Mask, gloves, goggles are worn by them while they are at work.

7.       Service Square has been a votary of using colour coding in our cleaning. This means that different colours of mops and micro-fibre clothes are used in different parts of the house to ensure there is no cross-contamination.

8.       Disinfect all cleaning equipments every day, before leaving for customers’ places.

9.       Disinfecting our equipments and bags at the customers’ place.

Service Square is also introducing a new service to help disengage from the enveloping fear.

Cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting your living spaces in the time of Covid-19.

In these challenging times, it is important to disinfect our living spaces to avoid spread of disease. We are combining two services – cleaning and disinfecting – to meet the threat of Covid-19.

The disinfectant we use, is also ideal for homes where the elderly or people convalescing after various illnesses or operations, live. And it is even more necessary for offices where a large number of people work.

According to www.cdc.gov, an authority site on disease control and prevention, “Cleaning of visibly dirty surfaces followed by disinfection is a best practice measure for prevention of COVID-19 and other viral respiratory illnesses in households and community settings”.

Service Square or no other organization in the world has experienced anything remotely close to this covid-19 disaster. So, we do not have any fool proof answers or precedence to go by. We have to play by the ear, learn, implement plans, reassess and again act on the new assessments.
