Art – to bring out beauty

“Why is making living spaces beautiful part of our Mission?” – some people ask. After all, we perform very ordinary, mundane services.
Here’s our truth.
When our staff peel away layers of dirt, scum and scales from toilets to reveal their original beauty, there is art in that labour of love.
Or, when we polish a marble floor and our customers are able to see their reflections on the beautifully patterned, shiny stone, that again is art for us.
We look at painting the walls of a home or an office as works of art. We imagine and create aesthetic interiors and exteriors by introducing new elements which didn’t exist before. That again, is work of art for us.
Art means so many things to different people.
Here are a few interpretations I discovered about what art is, while preparing for this post.
Art is any creative work of a human being or a form of expressing oneself.
Art resides in the quality of making something visually appealing. It is an activity that brings out beauty.
Art is about mastery, an ideal way of doing things.
Art resides in the quality of doing; the process is not magic.
Now, the question is, how do we manifest the above definitions of art in our routine, mundane work?
It is not so tough for us or for any one, to create art through work.
All of the above factors merge and are inevitable when people work from their heart – with passion. Then, even the simplest and the most mundane of tasks become works of art. So, our tagline – Service with a Heart – is our unique route to the creation of art.
It is not a coincidence that there is art in Heart.
I just love how Seth Godin, one of my favorite writers and a thought leader on Marketing, defines art.
“Art isn’t only a painting. Art is anything that’s creative, passionate, and personal. And great art resonates with the viewer, not only with the creator.
What makes someone an artist? I don’t think it has anything to do with a paintbrush.
Art is a personal gift that changes the recipient. The medium doesn’t matter. The intent does.”
When we work from our heart, we create experiences for the beholder, our customers.
At Service Square, we are very fortunate to have many associates who are artists.
That is why almost all of the nearly 400 reviews given by our customers on Google are about their experiences. They are moved by the experiences we create at work and they resonate with them so much that they give vent to their happy feelings through their reviews.
That is the beauty of art. It not only moves and changes the creator it also changes the beholder.
At Service Square, we constantly seek for ways to introduce art into our work in tangible ways.
We have introduced a new service – Ask your designer– to create an impact by introducing art into the homes of our customers in an inexpensive way.
Ask your designer service enables our customers to avail the assistance of our inhouse interior designer to make minimal changes, leading to better use of the existing space while also adding aesthetic elements. Our customers get to ask our designer all the doubts they have about making their homes look more beautiful. They can introduce subtle and creative changes in their homes without spending a lot of money.
As the poet, John O’ Donohue says, “Each one of us is an artist of our days; the greater our integrity and awareness, the more original and creative our time will become.”
Every day at work is an invitation for us to birth new art that changes us and the beholder.
